When I went to search for an image to use for this post, I had a profound and significant revelation.
While I could empathetically and compassionately relate to the woman in the photo–a woman heavy burdened with the pain of depression– and see a mirror reflection of myself, I am ready to faithfully and humbly admit, that is not me anymore.
And I don’t want it to be you.
As I selected this photo, I realized the following:
I have abilities.
Am organized.
Ambitious.
CREATIVE.
Willing and eager.
FORGIVING.
And smart.
But I have had such denial, pain, low self-esteem, a poor self image, and anger and resentment–especially toward myself–because of it, I ended up with terrible, no, ZERO boundaries, and spent most days struggling to get out of bed.
And, because of this, I ultimately became “dysfunctional”.
But I also have strong faith.
And I call a victory.
Depression and dysfunction are not easy to overcome. It’s as if a giant dragon is holding us down. And we are the underdog, lying on our back as the dragon takes control of our life.
It can be physically painful and impact every aspect of our life, including our creativity, relationships, diet, and even our health.
But take heart and do not lose hope.
Because God is faithful and He helps us overcome the dragon each and every time.
Yes, we have to take charge and persevere.
We have to walk through the valley, face our deepest hurts, and be willing to change.
We have to be willing to learn and be humbled, so we can forgive ourselves and each other.
But we don’t have to do it alone.
And, although we are not here to do the work for each other, we can still humbly support, encourage, and come alongside one another throughout the journey.
So please stay tuned as I use my God-given gifts for good and launch a new fun and inspirational–yet powerfully engaging and informative–podcast light-heartedly called “Dysfunctional”.
Similar to my life coaching practice, the podcast will offer a safe space for others like me to be encouraged, supported, strengthen their faith in the unseen, and get the heck out of their own way.
Just like I have.

“I am also a coach (of a different niche) and in working with Michele I was able to identify a limiting reoccurring issue that needed my attention. Michele was able to relate and speak to me in truth and love in identifying one particular issue. I believe it will certainly help me persevere in the future and ultimately grow my own coaching business. She is truly gifted and I am forever grateful. We are never too experienced to learn from each other and grow.” – Candice B.
