"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

We’re in this together

Do you ever feel as if you are doing life alone?

Even as a believer, but as a caregiver, I, at times, feel so. utterly. alone.

As if no one would understand. No one wants to understand. No one really cares.

But it’s just not true.  Not true at all.

I mean, I could preach to you about how God cares and He hears us, He knows us, He hears our heart.  But, while all of this is true, I won’t.

I will, however, remind you–and me!–that because the above is true, God will send those who do care about us–perhaps because of an anointing or something else–to, well, care for us.

To hold us.  To listen to us.  To understand us and uplift us.

I know now God sent me to do this for my mother, with whom, over the years, I have had a very stressful and difficult relationship with.

But God taught me how to see her through a lens of empathy, compassion, forgiveness, and understanding.

And to see myself through this lens, as well.

He taught me how to love and care for my mom, while also making my own salvation and self care a priority.

Are you a caregiver who feels alone in his or her work?

If so, please stay tuned for next week’s post in which I will share some new ways I’ve been practicing self care.

Next week: “Self care for the caregiver”
