I am sure you’ve heard how the effects of trauma get stored within our cells and effect the health of our body. But, did you know a false belief that we are our trauma story can also effect our posture and the position of our body in space? This is where I would normally take the opportunity to say “Don’t you know, you are a child of a Most High King?” However, because of where I am on my journey, I will simply say, “Friend, you are not what happened to you!”But, unfortunately, for many different reasons, including the real and severe effects childhood neglect, sexual trauma, and other forms of abuse have on the brain, many of us have been trapped, so to speak, in the story of what happened to us–within our mind and our body–and have worn it much like one wears a uniform. The position of–and pain within–my body was indicative a major part of healing from past trauma, for me, was, well, forgetting about it (not in the manner of denying myself the right to acknowledge it ever happened and avoiding the process of grieving that it did happen, but in power and the decision to take the risk of moving into the present and allowing myself to be hopeful about the future. Again.). And, giving myself permission to.Over the course of the past several years, I noticed, as my heart became more willing to leave the past behind, I stopped looking over my shoulder (this, by the way, a common phenomenon with trauma survivors that elicits significant agony), and so did my posture heal. And, as a result, much of the physical pain I suffered with also healed. So, please. Whatever you do after reading this, please, give yourself permission to be supernaturally renewed, to truly become a new creation, and witness the multitude of blessings that succeed healing and forgetting. With humility and love,MicheleWrite to me!Please feel free to share with me something that happened in the past you are having difficulty healing from and/or forgetting. I would be happy to pray about it with you.Next week: “The position of the heart”
