I wish I could tell you the photo I used for this post was taken in my kitchen, but I’m not so fancy.
I also wish I could tell you I’ve been healthfully drinking green tea consistently, because that’s one opinion (or insight?) “the experts” have on what we should do for health and longevity–and we’re all into health and longevity, right?!
Right.
Alas, to be completely honest, I’ve been drinking coffee.
Lots and lots of yummy coffee.
Naturally decaffeinated, of course!
While I am not actually ashamed to admit this truth (coffee is comforting to me, after all. And, in this season, comfort is what I need.), I have some firsthand experience with the negative affects coffee can have on our sensitive belly, soft tissue, and other digestive organs. And, generally, it is no. bueno.
That said, if you are also a matcha latte lover like I am, and you don’t want to spend $8 a pop on ceremonial grade matcha out, here’s an easy DIY recipe that’ll have you enjoying that yummy super power powder in the comfort of your own home (not to mention, budget!):
~ find yourself a good quality matcha tea that comes in teabag form (I use The Republic of Tea’s Double Green Matcha Tea, which is divine and organic!)
~ your favorite dairy or non-dairy milk
~ honey
Either heat the milk or milk and filtered water together. I usually throw the teabag in the pot, but it does enhance the caffeine effect (truth).
OR, if you have a frother, you can heat your milk using the frother method, which will make your “latte” more authentic (as she gets message to get herself a frother. Hmm. 🤔)
Add a drop of honey for sweetness (if you’re anything like me, you don’t need extra. Ha ha. <wink>)
And enjoy!
But, if your comfort comes from coffee, try to get a brand that works for you, doesn’t cause you reflux or inflammation (not all brands do, such as Lifeboost!), and, if you’re not caffeine sensitive like I am (I don’t know the science behind it yet, but I have found green tea to have a more gentle, subtle caffeine hit than coffee does), have at it!
Green’s out with your beans out!
The bean’s outta the bag?
I dunno. Just take care of yourself, ok?
Until next time…
Next week: “Where is your faith?”
